Main Meeting: Interconnecting Distributed generAtion to the Electric Grid

Topics that have been at the forefront of our ASHRAE leadership discussions include our New Energy Future.  "Building Our New Energy Future" is Sheila Hayter’s presidential theme, which promotes interconnectedness of buildings and electrical grid transportation networks, and the essential role that building professionals have in thoughtfully transitioning to a smart-grid/smart-buildings world.  Jim Mirabile of BGE will be presenting on distributed generation programs in Maryland and how to get your generation project interconnected to the electric grid.

Speaker: Jim Mirabile, PE, Principal Engineer, BGE

Jim Mirabile has worked for BGE for 30 years and currently is the Principal Engineer with the distributed resources interconnection team, a position he has held since 2013.   In his current role he reviews and approves generation projects from various sources including solar, wind, and many others which have applied for interconnection with the BGE electric grid.  Jim earned his BSEE from Drexel University and holds a Masters in Administrative Science from Johns Hopkins University.  He is actively involved with the Maryland Society of Professional Engineers, currently serving as president-elect and will become president in July 2019.  Jim also teaches a preparatory class for electric power engineers pursuing their PE registration.
